CMS DVMON

CMS DVMon is an alternative SpeedEdit DV capture interface which displays the video at 100% size so that it can be used to check focus and overall image appearance without worries of scaling artifiacts. CMS DVMON can also be switched to letterbox dislay which scales the video vertically in order to match wide screen aspect ratios, but leaves the horizontal resolution intact.

Since CMS DVMON is targeted for use on laptops which may be a bit underpowered in terms of graphics handling, it is important to note that SpeedEdit prioritizes the use of system resources. If the system cannot display the capture preview at 100% size at full frame-rate, it will sacrifice the frame rate of the on-screen display in order to maintain the capture to hard drive without any dropped frames.

Feel free to download and use CMS_DVMon. If you find it useful for your business, a thank-you payment via paypal is appreciated. CMS_DVMon is offered on an AS-IS basis, with no warranties expressed or implied.

INSTALLING CMS DVMON

Download CMS_DVMON.zip, and open the .zip file. Locate your SpeedEdit directory - it is most likely in C:/Program Files/NewTek/SpeedEdit. Within the SpeedEdit folder, locate the Skins/Capture Panel folder. Drag the User Skins folder from the .zip file into the Capture Panel folder. If there is already a User Skins folder in your Speed Edit installation, Drag the CMS_DVMon and CMS_DVMonWS folders from User Scripts folder inside CMS_DVMON.zip into the SpeedEdit User Skins folder. Installation is complete.

If you wish to remove CMS DVMon, simply delete the CMS_DVMon and CMS_DVMonWS folders, and the User Scripts folder if one was created, from the Capture Panel folder. Your SpeedEdit installation will be returned to its original state.

USING CMS DVMON

Open the Speed Edit capture panel as normal, and right click on an empty area of the panel. Select User Scripts and Speed Edit will switch to the DVMon interface. To switch to wide-screen mode, right click again to get the context menu and select CMS DVMonWS.

Functions and controls on the CMS DVMon interface perform the same as their equivalents on the standard Capture Panel. CMS DVMon has fewer controls than the default panel, to provide a slim interface for live capture. When functions from the standard Capture Panel are needed, right click and switch back.
